School Philosophy and Mission
"Heart to Hand is a Waldorf inspired, play-based and child centered preschool. The school is organized as a non-profit organization and governed by a board of committed parents, employees, and other community individuals. At Heart to Hand, our belief is that the most important thing for a child to do is engage in play. Through play, children experience their surroundings, explore the use of their bodies and understand their relationship to the world. The school does not offer an academic based curriculum. Rather, the foundations of education including literacy are introduced in a daily rhythm with activities such as story telling. Poetry, finger games, puppetry, and movement are used to enhance large motor skills through organized play. The toys are made of natural materials and every day objects requiring children to utilize imagination during play. The Waldorf environment is one that is uncluttered and calming. Interior colors are soft and warm and light is diffused. Our intention is to offer a nurturing space where children feel confident to explore their growing sense of self."
