School Philosophy and Mission
"Anshei Israel's Preschool/Kindergarten and its teachers are the recipients of numerous education awards. The school has twice received the \"Solomon Schechter Award for Excellence\" from the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and two teachers have been selected as \"Educator of the Year\" from the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona.
As of 2007, Lynne Falkow-Strauss, our Preschool/Kindergarten Director, has been with the school for 34 years and, with an extremely low turn-over rate, some of our teachers have been with us for more than 15 years!
We're very proud of the relationships built due to the low student-to-teacher ratio. Our programs are designed to enhance the physical, social, emotional and religious growth of children ages six months through six years. In addition to a rich and meaningful age-appropriate Judaic and secular education, we offer programs in music, physical education, science enrichment, beginning computers, storytime and library.
Stressing parent involvement, the school has a thriving Parent Action Committee and offers parenting classes taught by Rabbi Robert Eisen and Ann Shibuya, MSW, our on-staff school counselor. Ann can address developmental concerns, school adjustment issues and parenting questions, and offer suggestions to enhance a child's self-esteem, foster creativity, identify special needs and modify behaviors.
