"Presbyterian Preschool provides a variety of constructive, dramatic, and creative materials and experiences on a daily basis. Children move freely from one center of interest to another within a scheduled time for both inside and outside play. The curriculum includes interest centers, exposure to a variety of sensory experiences, nature, science, cooking, music, drama, field trips, and time to explore the child's own being. PLAY is at the heart of the curriculum, as it is the major activity of young children and the basic ingredient of all learning.
The young child deals primarily with concrete, specific, and tangible materials, so there is greater value in the actual handling of objects and materials than in the manipulation of abstract symbols that represent them. Some of the activities provided may include: building, painting, gluing, games, puzzles, digging in the sand, singing, water play, swinging, climbing, riding a bicycle, listening to stories, and exploring. As children grow and mature, they use these materials and experiences in more complex ways that develop new skills and lengthen their attention span. It is because of our dynamic curriculum, our fantastic teachers, and our dedicated and enthusiastic directors that the Presbyterian Preschool has the long-standing reputation for being "the best!".
As part of our Christian environment, we not only model Christian values but also use them within our conversations with the children, in our presentation of basic Bible stories throughout the year, and in our daily grace said at snack time.
