Sound Safari
ages 2-6
Activity Detail
On your next trip to the park, see if you can coax a little quiet time out of your child by going on a Sound Safari! Take a few minutes to stand still and listen to all the sounds around you. See if you can hear: birds singing, water gurgling, trees rustling in the wind, snapping branches, small animals scurrying, insects buzzing, cars driving by, kids playing.
Comments
If you're family is into birding, you can take this a step farther and try to teach your child how to differentiate between various bird sounds. Visit your local bird or nature shop in advance to help your child identify what birds are typically in your area.
