Two Scoops of Sugar ...or One or Three?
ages 5-6
Supplies
Sugar packets or coins
Activity Detail
When you are out at a restaurant and want to occupy the kids, try this activity at the table as an alternative to Tic Tac Toe. Place ten (white) packets of sugar and one (pink) packet of artificial sweetener on the table. (Or you could use coins -- ten pennies and one nickel.) Players take turns choosing to remove one, two,or three packets. The object is to force the opponent to have to take the pink packet. Older kids will delight in thinking a move or two ahead.

Great fun for those times when the kids just can't sit still.

Not only does this game help to pass the time between arriving at the restaurant and the food coming, but it also is a great way to develop pre-Chess skills.
