Give Me a Hard One to Guess
ages 3-6
Activity Detail
This game is a variation of '20 questions' and we played this with all four of our kids when they were 3, 4 and 5 years old. You say to your child, 'I have a hard one to guess.' Then you start giving clues, one by one. For example, I would say to our 3 year old, 'It's small.' Then she would guess something. If it was not correct, I would give her another clue. 'It eats and drinks.' If she still didn't guess it, I would keep giving clues. When she finally guessed, 'It's our puppy,' she would be so delighted and want to play again. She was always asking 'give me a hard one to guess!' This game is most useful in restaurants and on road trips.

This is a good activity, but definitely challenging for younger kids.

Other Savvy parents recommend playing a simplified version of "20 Questions" and helping guide the children with hints for good questions. This is another great way to teach children critical thinking skills.

My kids love this game. It really sharpens their thinking and listening skills... and helps to pass the time!
